MediaStar 8K Media Player (800)
MediaStar 800 Media Players are the professional solution for your entire IPTV, Digital Signage and digital media delivery requirements.
The 800 unit can play out a wide variety of video file and stream formats. It can play live network streams, locally stored video files or files stored on a remote iVod server. It can render HTML5 web pages, or HTML5 pages created from Digital Signage applications which can incorporate live and HDCP Professional protected streams, and file-based video content.
The optional HDCP Professional capability enables the 800 unit to legally play live streams coming from a HDCP protected HDMI output of a satellite settop for example (via a MediaStar 798-HDCP Pro encoder).
The 800 unit is a fully ‘static’ hardware platform (no disks, no fans) built around a Linux OS, and can be PoE+ or DC powered. The unit uses an octal processor core to provide fast rendering of HTML5 web page content. It has a HDMI video/audio input, so that local HDMI sources can easily be shown on the main output screen. A typical use case for this is to display a local laptop screen on the main screen in a conference room.
There are USB-C and USB-3 host port connectors on the unit, which provide HID and other electrical interfaces with suitable adapters. The USB-C port doubles as the second 4K HDMI video output port on 2x4K models (with a supplied USB-C to HDMI adapter cable).
The unit can be controlled by users via web interfaces or with a simple IR remote control (713-IR). There is an internal IR receiver and an external IR receiver for when the unit is installed behind a screen. The 800 unit has an IR pass-back feature that passes 3rd party remote control keypresses back over the network to control video source devices.
Configuration of the unit itself is done via web page menus that the unit provides. Simple menus allow the unit to be setup easily and there are an extensive range of status monitoring facilities available, so the unit can be monitored from anywhere on the network. SNMP traps can be issued if any unexpected events occur, and these can be linked to the Media Manager software or your own SNMP monitoring system. Media playout and event logs are generated, and these can be regularly emailed via a customer’s SMTP email server if required.
The media playout on the 800 unit is configured from the MediaStar Media Manager software. This is a fully featured system wide configuration and monitoring tool. It allows a wide range of playout configurations to be created on the 800 unit, including time-based playlists, user-controlled media selection lists, remote network-based media trigger commands, tickers and many other features.
