The Challenge

Allen & Overy is widely regarded as one of the leading law firms in the UK, advising businesses, financial institutions, governments and private individuals. It regularly works on complex cross-border transactions, ground-breaking legal solutions and products. The majority of the company’s 2000 employees are based at One Bishops Square, a state-of-the-art building in the City of London. When it was completed in 2005, Allen & Overy wanted to be able to deliver a wide range of news, sport and entertainment content across multiple displays located in offices, meeting rooms, and hospitality areas.  

The Solution

The law firm turned to MediaStar Systems to help.  Coinciding with Allen & Overy’s move into its Bishops Square HQ, a new solution comprising encoders and LAN-Casters was installed to deliver 20 channels including BBC News, CNN, Bloomberg and internal company channels. This took advantage of the IP network that had been newly installed, and in the intervening years, has allowed more than 40 digital media decoders to be added into the system. Now, Allen & Overy not only make use of the MediaStar players for the delivery of live TV throughout the building, but they also utilise multiple MediaStar digital signage players for their multi-zone needs. 

The Outcome

The company’s extensive IPTV and digital signage solution is widely used throughout the offices, conference rooms and training facilities, plus reception, bars and the restaurant. To carefully curate content to suit viewers in those different areas, Allen & Overy uses MediaStar Media Manager, the fully integrated content management system. It is administered internally and is augmented by MediaStar Creator, which is used to design, compile and aggregate targeted content, such as the weather report, or train times, to keep staff and visitors informed and up to date. 

Since its earliest iteration, Allen & Overy has made use of its MediaStar solution and regularly updated it to ensure it fully maximises the very latest features and benefits.
